About surfing in central Atolls
Although the Central atolls are not as well-known or frequently visited as the North or South Male atolls, Thaa and Laamu Atolls have been gaining appeal as surfers seek to avoid the northern throng.
In the Central Atolls, the breaks continue the Maldivian legacy of offering reliable surf and immaculate barrels. The availability and perfection of medium-sized waves are unsurpassed. You can always locate a site that is wind-protected because of the different Atolls' shapes and locations. The proximity of each break makes it simple to switch between them and search for ideal conditions all day.
At Thaa Atoll, notable places to visit are Finnimas, Outside Mikado, and Inside Mikado. Ying Yang, Refugee's Lefts, and Refugee's Rights are a few of the more well-known locations in Laamu Atoll. Most of these waves have quick sections and fast barrels that require you to burn down the line in an effort to make the segment. Although not for the faint of heart, intermediate and more experienced surfers can still access the waves of the central atolls.
There is no place else you would rather surf when certain conditions are met in certain areas (essentially, a powerful southerly swell and an ideal wind direction). This feeling is enhanced by the gorgeous environment and lonesome surroundings. Due to the fact that surf charters are the only way to access the breaks in this area, if you do decide to go surfing here, it will have to be a boat trip.

Best time to surf in Central Atolls
Conditions in Central Atolls are somewhere between those in Male Atolls and South Atolls. Thus, the surf season can last from March to November. Summer in the northern hemisphere remains the peak season (from June till September). This is when stronger offshore winds are blowing and larger swells are approaching the beach.
